A new service has been launched which aims to boost the independence and achievement of pupils with special needs.

Local CAPacity provides advice, loans of specialist computer equipment and training for teachers and children.

The service, which is available to local authorities, is run by charities AbilityNet and Ace Centres. Its launch was triggered by the end of the government-funded Communication Aids Project, which improved access to education for children with disabilities.
