* Here’s a simple test. Go to a television, press the “on” button and see what happens. Provided your TV is in decent working order, it should switch on almost instantaneously. Now press the power button on your PC and see how long it takes to boot up. Well, you’ll be pleased to know that Intel has demonstrated a prototype notebook computer that can be booted up almost instantaneously and could also save significant amounts of battery power on notebook PCs. The technology - codenamed “Robson” - boots up from a flash memory chip rather than the hard drive. The notebook PC with Robson technology opened an Adobe Acrobat file in less than half a second - almost 14 times faster than a PC using standard technology.
