Give me a man at the age of... They make them different State-side, as John MacBeath told the Storyline conference held recently in Glasgow.

Visiting an inner-city Chicago school, he was approached by a lad of 11 or 12 who handed him his business card: Curtiss L Taylor, Dynatronics Ltd, it read, advertising his business of training people in ICT.

Professor MacBeath waxed lyrical to the school principal about what a fantastic kid he was. She said they had a lot like him, and that Curtiss had come to her with a plan to train the staff in technology, including a staff development programme.

“How fantastic, students as leaders,” the professor enthused. “Did you take him up on his offer?”

“No, he was too expensive,” she said.
