Gaelic authors and established writers are to work side by side pupils in their classrooms as part of Sgriobhadh sa Sgire, a new Highland writing initiative.

Developed by the Highland Council and Comhairle nan Leabhraichean (the Gaelic Books Council), and supported by Bord na Gaidhlig, the initiative also aims to boost sales of Gaelic books and raise their profile among readers of all ages.

It will include Gaelic writing workshops and readings in libraries across the Highland Council area.

In June, 2007, the Leabhar nan Gaidheal Oga project was launched, culminating in a book of Gaelic writing produced by young people in the Highlands.

This latest project is the next phase.
