The Beauty of Abstraction features the paintings of Zarah Hussain, an English artist who is fascinated by complex geometry and pattern making. A practising Muslim, she says she was able to rediscover her artistic and cultural heritage while studying at the Prince’s Foun-dation in London, which offers the only graduate course in the world on visual Islamic and traditional arts. This is a first Scottish show for the artist who will lead two workshops for children aged 8-12.
Diana Sykes, the director of Fife Contemporary Art and Craft who brought the show from Bradford, says: “Zarah’s work is bright and colourful and the sort of thing to cheer you up at this time of year. The exhibition also features a kaleidoscopic-style light installation with sound.”
Gavin Grant, museum curator, said: “Schools will also get to see History of Toys and our new permanent history exhibition, The St Andrews A-Z.”
