The new National Maritime Museum Cornwall reflects the county’s rich seafaring history. Located on the Falmouth waterfront, it contains 12 galleries of ultra-modern, interactive designs from shipwrights, architects, film-makers and digital image engineers. Visitors can control the movement of boats racing around a pool and listen to 12 historic seafaring stories. They can also see the Flotilla of 27 boats suspended in mid-air to show how their shape assists them in the wind and water. The National Maritime Museum Cornwall opens fully in February 2003. From early December 2002 it will be open free, Wednesdays to Sundays, for a series of “sea trials”. Details from National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Discovery Quay, Falmouth TR11 3QY.
