Images from Scotland’s national collections are available online for the first time.

High-resolution pictures, many previously unpublished, can be downloaded for licensed use from the collections of the National Archives of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland, National Museums Scotland, the National Trust for Scotland and the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland.

The website includes people, places, objects, maps, plans, drawings and iconic documents. On offer are Mary Queen of Scots’s jewellery, original manuscripts by Robert Burns, the Declaration of Arbroath (pictured), the National Covenant and Dolly the Sheep.

“Scotland has a wonderfully rich, well maintained and well researched set of national collections,” said George Mackenzie, keeper of the Records of Scotland. “Now, for the first time, we have a one-stop shop for commercial users to access images of these treasures.”
