Scottish pupils want to become a Kelly Holmes, Andy Murray or David Beckham if they had a dream career choice. But teaching comes a close second. A survey by supermarket giant Tesco, to celebrate the 15th year of its computers for schools campaign, reveals that a career in sport is the top choice but 17 per cent of young people would fancy becoming a teacher. This is marginally more than those who would want a career in the armed forces or to take up a trade.
When asked about their techy tips for the future, one in four students felt that by 2020 going to school may be a historical activity with video conferencing from home having replaced the need to gather in one place.
