The first education officer for the Scottish parliament is Alan McClosky, aged 31, a modern studies teacher at St Ambrose High in Coatbridge. Mr McClosky plans to produce curriculum materials, develop outreach work, invite school parties to Holyrood and stimulate wider youth participation.
