An Aberdeenshire school has secured thousands of pounds of investment to plough into its modern catering programme.

Fraserburgh Academy is set to benefit from a Pounds 10,000 prize, scooped by its industry partner ESS Support Services Worldwide, which is part of the food-service company Compass Group.

ESS Support Services Worldwide won this year’s Compass in the Community Award for its partnership with the academy, which spans four years and focuses on enhancing the school’s home economics provision for pupils and preparing them for possible careers in catering.

The Pounds 10,000 prize will be used by the school to pay for a visit from chef, cookery writer and campaigner Prue Leith (below). It has already funded a new training kitchen and restaurant through the Scottish Government’s Schools of Ambition programme.
