Honours left out

I was disappointed to note in your coverage of the Queen’s Birthday Honours that there was no mention of the significant number of early childhood education practitioners (“From bottom set to Dame: the rise and rise of a super head”, June 18). These included: Tracy Jackson OBE, manager, Crescent Children’s Centre, Stoke-on-Trent; Jean Jones OBE, head, Grace Owen Nursery School, Sheffield; Sian Rees-Jones OBE, head, Bognor Regis Sure Start Children’s Centre, West Sussex; Nancy Mcgrath MBE, principal, Edenderry Nursery School, Holywood, Co Down; and Brenda Whitmore MBE, deputy head, Hillfields Children’s Centre, Coventry. They have all had their outstanding contribution in early childhood education and care and their work with the youngest children and their families recognised.

Megan Pacey, Chief executive, Early Education, London.
