A youth group keen on pony-trekking phoned an outdoor education adviser for clearance. The adviser checked, rechecked and found the privately run riding centre broke every rule.

"I'm sorry, you won't be able to go. They don't meet our standards," the adviser apologised.

"Quite right," the leader asserted. "We don't want anything to do with a bunch of cowboys."
