Current teaching about global warming is “irresponsible”, says the Scientific Alliance, a sceptics’ group that has condemned the Government’s decision to send copies of Al Gore’s campaigning film An Inconvenient Truth to schools.

The award-winning documentary on rising world temperatures by the former US vice-president (above) has been dismissed by the group as a “slick polemic”

that uses “a combination of incomplete science and emotional imagery”.

The alliance called it, “an unbalanced approach to educating children”.

Martin Livermore, the alliance’s director and author of Climate Change: A Guide to the Scientific Uncertainties, suggested the film should be shown alongside Channel 4‘s The Great Global Warming Swindle. “To promote only one point of view on such a contentious issue is wrongheaded,” he said.
