The House

Lighten the load of history revision by visiting the “house” at the website provided for GCSE and A-level students by the History Channel. Each room provides different preoccupations and challenges. Behind the Che Guevara poster on the bedroom wall, there’s a biographical database. The living room offers links to other history websites, news of current educational TV programmes nd a photo archive contributed by members of the public. Even the toilet roll turns into crossword quizzes.

Some silly distractions - an “is Hitler dead?” debate, for example - arise because the site is interactive, but the library is full of solid if uncontroversial summaries for time-challenged students. The History Study Stop is at www.historystudystop.co.uk.
