The House of Commons (pictured, above) has launched an initiative to recognise the impact of school councils. The Speaker’s School Council Awards Scheme will reward councils, particularly where they have made a difference to their local community or environment. Speaker John Bercow has sent a letter to every headteacher in the UK informing them of the scheme with details of how to sign up. There will be awards for infant, primary, secondary and sixth forms.
