Online picture library goes live

Encyclopaedia Britannica has launched an online archive, which brings together more than 40 picture libraries from around the world. Image Quest gives users access to more than one million pictures, all cleared for educational use, from libraries including the National Portrait Gallery, Getty Images, the National Geographic Society and the Wellcome Institute. The archive is compatible with any virtual learning environment (VLE) or learning platform and a free 30-day trial is available. For details, go to www.britannica.co.uk

Boost for budding businesses

Naace, the association for ICT teachers, is running a course teaching people how to set up a business. The one-day event looks at the skills needed to establish an independent consultancy, partnership or small company, covering subjects such as looking for business, pitching to customers, invoicing and dealing with tax and legal issues. Netbooks up for grabs

Primary schools have the chance to win a set of netbooks in an art competition launched by ICT security company LapSafe. Pupils must submit a drawing of “something that makes them happy”.
