Students who fancy a career in video games have their last chance to enter a British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) competition. It will reward the winner with work experience at an Electronic Arts games studio, a Bafta award and a prototype of their game developed with Abertay University.

The 2011 Young Game Designers competition, in association with EA, invites groups of 11 to 16-year-olds to design a new video game. The competition also highlights how key qualifications in areas such as maths, physics and computer science are essential for those wishing to enter the industry.

Launched for the first time last year, when it attracted hundreds of entries from across the UK, the contest aims to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to become the next generation of video-game designers.

The deadline for entries is 24 October. See www.bafta.orgygd
