Independents’ plea over A-levels

PRIVATE schools this week warned the Government against dumbing down qualifications needed for university entry in order to attract more state-school pupils.

Giving evidence t the Commons education select committee, they said independent pupils got far more A-grades in the “hard” A-level subjects such as physics, chemistry, maths and French.
