Induction guide

I am writing in response to Lesley Waddy’s letter (TES, May 11).

Currently, in England, if a trainee teacher has not yet started their induction, then there is no deadline after graduation by which they have to complete their induction period. This applies even if the teacher has carried out some supply teaching or teaching on a short-term contract, providing it does not exceed four terms in total and is not part of induction. However, once a teacher has begun their induction period, they must complete it within five years of when they first started it.

To check any facts about induction status, contact our induction team on 0121 345 0081, email induction@gtce.org.uk
