CALLING HOME ECONOMICS TEACHERS. Voluntary Service Overseas needs home economics teachers to work with some of the world’s poorest communities including Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda and China. VSO volunteers are aged 20-70, regular placements are for two years, and they are provided with accommodation and a local level allowance, air fares and medical insurance. BENCHMARK START-UP. The Hitchin British Schools Trust will be opening its Victorian “Galleried classroom” and “Great infants’ room” for educational visits from mid April and is asking for volunteer teachers to take lessons, talk to small groups about the exhibition, and read moral Victorian stories. The programme will run all day on Tuesdays and Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Operation Benchmark is the fundraising name of the HBST.
