sld-forum, a vital e-mail network for professionals involved in the education of learners with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, has been developed by the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency. It offers support and advice from practising teachers, advisory teachers and researchers and is free to join and use. “Special needs in a special place” is the slogan of The Holly Lodge Centre in ichmond Park, Surrey. The garden acts as a refuge from the pressures of everyday life for people with or without special needs, and also offers an adventure and learning experience, which appeals to all the senses using texture, scent, colour and sound. Activities for key stage 1-2 pupils include: natural history of the park; care of the environment; and Victorian life style in Mrs Sawyer’s farmhouse kitchen. Approximate cost: pound;1 per person.
