* SchoolEnergy programme

This scheme gives rebates of up to pound;3,000 to schools that carry out energy-saving measures and develop a whole-school approach to energy management.

Schools are audited to identify potential energy-saving measures and then receive 50 per cent of the cost of implementing them.

The programme is a partnership between the Energy Saving Trust, British Gas, Scottish Gas and Northern Ireland Electricity. It is also supported by STEP (Schools Turnkey Energy Programme), a service provided by the Government-funded Energy Efficiency Best Practice programme. To find out more visit: or phone 0870 7000 457.
