More than 2.3 million Muslim pilgrims were expected to congregate in Mecca, Saudi Arabia last week. This pilgrimage, known as the Haj, has been repeated for 1,400 years and all Muslims are expected to make it once in their lifetime. Channel 4‘s programme of the same name is backed by a mass of information and services on its supporting website. Dr Zaki Badawi, chair of the British Council of Imams and Mosques, will answer questions for website visitors and provide text-message “thoughts of the day” about the Haj, which ended last Sunday.
