I see that we are still some way off pay parity with schoolteachers. I read Sara Bubb’s answer to a schoolteacher’s query (TES Magazine, July 4) about pay after their induction year and was impressed to see that the teacher could expect pound;26,581 (presumably including London weighting) in September.

Having qualified and worked in various settings as a nurse, I studied for three years for a BA, a further year for a diploma (masters) in health promotion, worked in Morocco teaching English as a foreign language (with qualification), worked and qualified in early years and playwork, and have taught in FE (and briefly in a sixth form college) for 23 years in a variety of roles, recently gaining another masters degree as this was a condition of my employment teaching at HE level. I have been a chief examiner for early years for six years. And I work full-time in the teacher education team at an FE college, “delivering” HE qualifications. My salary? pound;28,156. Perhaps my sense of injustice is misplaced. If so, please explain.
