The James Allen Prepartory School in Dulwich, south London, has won the 1994 School Award offered by the Mary Glasgow Languages Trust for successful innovation in the teaching and learning of languages. It earned the prize for it’s bilingual work with four to seven- year-olds, featured in the TES Modern Languages Extra in October.

French is taught as a foreign language by course director Pascale Bizet but is also used as the medium of instruction for some of the children’s time in maths, drama, music and PE, and occasionally art, history and geography. The school will receive Pounds 1,000 to assist further development of the initiative.
