On a recent visit to Cademuir International School in the south-west, an HMI met school prefects. The inspector asked about training for their job, explaining that “even an HMI like me had to have training to do their job”.

One of the pupils responded: “HMIs and school prefects aren’t the same thing. We all know how to do our jobs.” Touche.
