LONDON’S Institute of Education is to receive pound;1 million extra a year to plug a funding gap which had led it to threaten to pull out of teacher training. The Department for Education and Skills will review the three-year arrangement, but is making no further funding commitment to the whole sector. Universities have long complained they do not receive enough cash to cover the costs of teacher training.
