In the PowerHouse and Science Track interactive exhibitions at Elsecar, Barnsley, South Yorkshire, visitors can see how much they would weigh on Jupiter, turn shafts and pulleys with a human treadmill, and sail a solar sailboat.
School groups can combine this with a one-hour science and technology workshop on power and energy for Pounds 3 per head. Other attractions include: the Elsecar Steam Railway which carries passengers approximately one mile alongside the Dearne and Dove Canal, a social history exhibition in the Earl Fitzwilliam’s private railway station, and working craftspeople.
