Three and a Half Lives of Philip Wetu, which will have its UK film premiere at the festival, relates to HIVAids and has eight possible endings, which pupils have to decide upon. It will be followed by the uplifting film, The Lazarus Effect, which stays on the theme of HIVAids. Both will be shown on September 14 (in Glasgow) and September 15 (in Edinburgh) with free entry for students and teachers.
The screenings will be followed by a supporting session organised by international development charity VSO, which will explore the theme of “choice” in the area of HIVAids in relation to poverty.
Teachers attending will be given a suggested lesson plan and a link to resources which can be used as follow-up material with pupils.

VSO will also be holding a global schools partnership teacher taster session (September 23, 4.30-6pm, Campanile Hotel, Glasgow) for teachers interested in establishing a school link overseas; for those interested in volunteering in developing countries, there will be a “meet VSO” session (October 12, 6.30-9pm at The Melting Pot, Edinburgh).
