A NEW programme of study visits and exchanges has been extended to give up to 5,000 teachers a year the opportunity for international professional development.

The scheme of visits of no more than two weeks was developed in response to the Government’s proposals in the Green Paper Teachers: Meeting the Challenge for Change. It will be funded by pound;3 million frm the Government. No funding for supply cover is available except in exceptional circumstances.

Teachers can apply via the Central Bureau, the League for the Exchange of Commonwealth Teachers and the Technology Colleges Trust, which are overseeing the visits. Details are on the international professional development website at www.dfee.gov.uktipd
