THE Irish government is to launch a major review of higher education in conjunction with the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. As many as 50 per cent of pupils from deprived areas of Ireland fail to progress to school-leavingcertificate examinations and in some cases, up to 40 per cent do not sit junior certificate exams.
