Israel takes PRP to new heights

EDUCATION bosses in Israel are taking performance-related pay a step further by giving teachers in struggling schools bonuses worth nearly half their salary if more pupils pass their exams. The bonuses of up to pound;5,000 each ill be given to staff in 51 schools nationwide if this summer’s exam results in maths, English and Hebrew or Arabic show dramatic improvements on recent years. An experienced teacher earns around pound;12,000 a year.
