An ability to use email and the internet can significantly increase earning potential. Women who have mastered these skills are likely to earn 11 per cent more than those who cannot, while men can earn 20 per cent more. Computer programming skills increase women’s earning potential by 15 per cent. Government researchers concluded that providing children with information technology skills could help lead them to higher paid jobs.
