To the last of the current round of TESS seminars (page four), which include some of the greats of Scottish education. Graham Donaldson, senior chief inspector, was there to open proceedings but not before he recalled his favourite school memory.

“It was participation in a play to an audience: I played the part of a king and I was assassinated,” he revealed. Who said it makes a change from HMIE assassinating schools?
