Secular beliefs are not being properly taught in RE lessons, according to British Humanist Association research. Guidance recommends that syllabuses include “secular world views”, but only three out of four local authorities did so. Andrew Copson, the association’s education officer, called for a national curriculum in RE, and a rule change to allow humanists to sit on local committees deciding RE syllabuses.
