The expertise of Live Aid organiser Harvey Goldsmith and other big hitters in the music industry is being made available to schools.

A free web-based resource has been put online to demystify the music business and bring the experience and knowledge of industry leaders into the classroom.

The website includes interviews and information on promotion, publishing, copyright and songwriting. It can be used alongside the Young Enterprise QuickStart Music Programme, but also by students with an interest in music who are not involved in the programme.

Feargal Sharkey, chief executive of British Music Rights, said: “The creative industries are now as vital to the UK economy as the financial services sector. That fact alone makes QuickStart Music an incredibly important programme.”
