One or two days of strikes a year do absolutely nothing to alter looming educational reforms. The government has an agenda to convince the public that the profession is full of inept teachers and incapable school leaders. With the press on their side, I cannot see any alternative other than prolonged nationwide action. It would no doubt turn the public further against teachers. However, as things stand, in 10 years’ time teachers will have no rights or collective influence whatsoever.
Playing around like this is getting nowhere. It is time to consider the only two serious options: shut up and accept it or hit back with a meaningful attack.
