Now that everybody has finished laughing at Jade Goody, star of the latest Big Brother, spare a thought for the impact her 15 weeks of fame may be having on thousands of other Jades across the country. The Bermondsey lass’s very public displays of ignorance seem to have disastrously affected the status of the name that had, before the series, been the 23rd most popular girl’s name in the country. A 15-year-old Cambridgeshire Jade writes: “There are three of us Jades in my school and everybody’s getting it. Suddenly, they think I am super stupid or something just because of what I am called.” Is Jade the new Sharon?
