Jamie's Dream School: Stuff of nightmares?

I quite enjoyed the first transmission of Jamie's Dream School and found it rather reassuring.

With brilliant teachers who can inspire pupils by teaching what they want and however they want, with equipment worth millions of pounds and classes of no more than 20, and with irregular lessons over a total period of two months, one evaluation was: "I survived!"

Now add to the equation the national curriculum, Ofsted, up to eight classes a day, limited resources, performance-related pay, an academic year of 39 weeks and I am pleased that many teachers do more than survive. Some even impart knowledge and a love of their subject.
