Jangle Johnson

As he lies on a Greek beach this summer, Alan Johnson will listen to the jingly-jangly surrealness of the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine". The Secretary of State for Education has named the group's 1966 album, Revolver, as his favourite sound of the summer. MPs were surveyed by the British Library, to celebrate 50 years of the album charts. Jim Knight, schools minister, chose Different Class, by the 1990s band Pulp. Damian Green, the former shadow education secretary, rocks to Led Zeppelin, while David Chaytor, Labour member of the education select committee, chills out to Bob Dylan's 1968 album John Wesley Harding.
