Jewel of a site

James Prescott Joule’s research on the relationship between electricity and work made an enormous contribution to science and industry in 18th-century Manchester. So much so that his name is given to the international unit of energy - the joule. Now his work is celebrated in a website created by the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester - Joule and Energy.

If you have the latest versions of Flash and Windows Media Player, you can watch his paddlewheel experiment on-screen. Suitable for early secondary upwards.
