John Muir award

(Photograph) - Julie Moyes, the United States consul in Scotland, presented the first John Muir award last week to primary pupils from Dunbar, birthplace of the internationally renowned conservationist.

The awards are intended to be non-competitive and the scheme aims to encourage support for conservation issues and the environment among pupils and other young people.

Children are set a series of five challenges: to discover a wild place, explore it, take action to conserve it and share their experience with a wider audience.
