I wait to see whether, this time, both boys and girls will be "authentic" to the era. From my memory of the 1950s, the girls had very different hairstyles from those permitted in the reconstruction and would also have been addressed in the same manner as the boys.
Is it that the girls are not considered good enough to be "authentic" or is it rather that modern girls would not tolerate such a physical assault as to have their hair cut short?
It begs the question as to just how much has really changed since then.
