Brooke: My favourite author would probably be Jacqueline Wilson and I have read most of her books, but I just can’t think of my favourite character. They are just all really good. All the characters I like are really different.
Ciaran: My favourite is Jack Fletcher from the Young Samurai books. He is a 13-year-old who is sailing with his dad to Japan, and his entire crew is killed by ninjas. He is taken in by a samurai warrior and is trained in the way of the warrior. I like his spirit and his quick way of thinking.
Jody: Mine is Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He is kind of like a normal teenager. I have read Dog Days, and I saw the film as well. But I prefer the book.
Brooke: It’s kind of a comedy. It’s funny because it could happen to people. It’s kind of realistic.
Jody: If it’s funny, it makes you read more of it.
Ciaran: I’m more into the series characters, like The Hunger Games and Harry Potter. I’m still reading the last book of The Hunger Games. Well, not really reading it - I’m on the epilogue. For me to like a character, they can have different things, but they have to be serious enough to take things in their stride. I have read books about spies and enjoyed that.
Brooke: I enjoy spy books, too, but I kind of prefer the movie when it’s about spy-type things.
Ciaran: I don’t really enjoy the movies. Sometimes they don’t do justice to the books.
Brooke: I watched the movies for Twilight, but the books were so hard. I got to the halfway point with one of them, and it was just so difficult.
Ciaran: I can’t really get in with most things people really like. I haven’t read the Twilights because, really, Twilight sucks.
Brooke: I think it is quite easy to just be drawn into something when your friends are, but when everybody really liked Harry Potter, I wasn’t really a fan of it. But there was different stuff I liked that other people didn’t.
Jody: I usually read the blurb first, and if I don’t like it I don’t read it.
Brooke: I wouldn’t fall out of love with reading, probably, but it’s quite easy because of all the high-tech things that you can just prefer.
Ciaran: I don’t honestly think I’m going to be able to get rid of reading, even if I try, because I have my laptop, my iPad, my iPod, and every night - booklight, book, read.
