Still in Fife, this time with the Headteachers’ Association of Scotland at St Andrews. Alex Easton, the incoming vice-president, was definitely proud of his new attire at the Friday night dinner - a little number he had run up specially.

A Paisleyite (as in the town, not the Ulster leader), and still a regular at Love Street on Saturdays, he showed off a fetching St Mirren kilt.

We are pleased to describe the Paisley pattern to you. As you can imagine, it is mostly black and white and looks uncannily like squared paper or a balance sheet. The deep red thread running through it confirms it is indeed an accurate reflection of the troubled club.
