The inescapable presence of cookery shows on television has produced at least one enjoyable spin-off - the video and education pack Bad Food Live! Two chefs - one hip, the other posh - vie with one another in a spoof competition in which they are unknowingly guilty of a whole range of food safety errors. Pupils at key stages 2 and 3 will enjoy watching for the “barf alerts” as hands are left unwashed, surfaces are wiped with dirty cloths and knives are wiped on jeans. The serious underlying point is the need for strict hygiene, but it’s fun watching out for the contamination.

Bad Food Live! is free from the Food Standards Agency. When ordering, quote reference FSA08450903.
