RHYTHM Sticks, London’s South Bank Centre’s annual percussion festival, returns for its ninth season next month. For nine days leading drummers and percussionists from around the world will entertain audiences inside and outside the concert halls.

Many events are fun for all the family and some are free: Urban Strawberry Lunch, for example, make and play their own instruments using everyday objects such as plastic tubes, scrap metal or a kitchen sink.

They can be found on Saturday July 19 at 2pm on the Royal Festival Hall level two Riverside Terrace. Don’t forget the earplugs.
