Neil Munro and Willis Pickard report from the research council’s annual forum
The latest survey of attainment in English by primary and young secondary pupils, carried out last year, shows no decline in overall performance. Girls are still doing better than boys. The survey, by Angela Napuk of Edinburgh University, is the fifth on English under the auspices of the Assessment of Achievement Programme which tracks progress of pupils in primary 4, primary 7 and secondary 2. The full report will be published by early July.
