Glasgow’s experiment with “learning communities” based on Eastbank and St Mungo’s academies along with their local primaries and pre-five centres is to be continued for the next school session. The pilot scheme, aimed at pooling the schools’ efforts in a drive to raise pupils’ atainment, has made “significant progress” since last August but not enough to draw full conclusions, a report to the city’s education committee stated this week. Four other school clusters are to become involved, which will provide a firmer basis for a final assessment.
