Apping Leonardo
The Royal Collection, Touch Press and Primary Pictures are launching a new iPad app, Leonardo da Vinci: Anatomy, to coincide with the opening of the Royal Collection’s exhibition.
What is it?
The app gives users a never-before-seen perspective of the artist’s work, allowing his drawings to be explored in detail through a number of innovative features. It includes an e-book, high-resolution reproductions of all 268 drawings in the exhibition, interactive 3D human models matched to Da Vinci’s images, and the chance to translate Da Vinci’s mirror writing into typeset English text.
Why is it useful?
This educational tool, available for #163;9.99 from the iTunes App Store, allows pupils to keep Da Vinci’s drawings in digital format and explore every element of how the human body works.
